PLDL Eases Into Full Reopening

On Wednesday evening, the Portage Lake District Library (PLDL) Board of Trustees lifted several pandemic related restrictions and further opened up the library for use.
PLDL’s Phase 3 Plan & Policy, which includes a Pandemic Patron Code of Conduct, has been rescinded. This document previously required unvaccinated individuals to wear masks in the library, and tasked all patrons with socially distancing themselves from others. The expiration of these policies also lifts time limits on library visits and computer use, removes the overall building capacity restriction, and opens the Community Room for public use.
The PLDL board also adopted new temporary Community Room rules to assist staff with easing into a full reopening of the space. These rules indicate that use of the Community Room will be restricted to 50% capacity, or 25 individuals, and registration for all library-sponsored events will be required. The temporary rules are scheduled to expire on August 26, the date of the next regularly scheduled PLDL board meeting.
A Workplace Preparedness Plan will remain in effect and ensures high-use areas and surfaces are being cleaned throughout the library at least once per day. Adjustments were also made to this policy to include best-practice safety recommendations for unvaccinated or otherwise at-risk employees, such as encouraging them to wear a mask and social distance while at work.
