New Digital Skill Building Resource for PLDL Patrons

Posted on

LinkedIn Learning, an online leader for professional development courses and skill-building tutorials, will soon be available for patrons of the Portage Lake District Library (PLDL). The resource offers thousands of professionally produced courses on business, software, technology, creative skills and more.

Individual subscriptions to LinkedIn Learning can cost up to $30 per month or $360 per year, but it’s all free with a PLDL library card. Users do not need a Linkedin profile to use the resource.

“The need for digital skilling programs has taken on a new urgency due to the pandemic,” Said Library Director Dillon Geshel. “Free access to LinkedIn Learning will allow community members to build new skill sets that make them better positioned to find work. The range of professional development opportunities included is really impressive.”

Over 16,000 courses are included in LinkedIn Learning, all of them taught by industry experts. Course subjects include software, CAD, marketing, animation, photography, web design and much more. Each self-paced course is broken down into segments that include audio, video, and text transcripts, and all content can be accessed on a computer or a mobile device with the LinkedIn Learning app. Certificates of completion are available at the end of the course and can be integrated directly into a user’s LinkedIn profile if desired.

LinkedIn Learning will be available to PLDL cardholders beginning Thursday, June 17. To get started, patrons can visit pldl.org and use their library card barcode and PIN combination to create an account. For more information, visit the library or contact Library Director Dillon Geshel at dgeshel@pldl.org and 906-482-4570 x2.
