The Portage Lake District Library is thrilled to debut a new podcast that will be available on all major podcast apps in the coming weeks. “PLDL Explores” Is a two-episode podcast that focuses on shipwrecks of the Portage Waterway and Lake Superior, as well as ghost stories and other folklore of the Keweenaw.
“The popularity of podcasting is growing rapidly, and we’re very excited to begin using the medium to broadcast information,” said Library Director Dillon Geshel. “We also plan to leverage our experience producing the podcast to offer a how-to instructional session for the public.”
The podcast is produced through an internship program between the Library and Michigan Tech’s Humanities Department. Humanities major Liam Andersen was tasked with creating the podcast as the Library’s 2019 fall intern. Andersen will return to PLDL in March for a presentation on the process of producing the podcast.
“PLDL Explores” is currently available to stream on Spotify. It will be available in the Apple Podcasts App and all other popular podcast apps in the near future. The Library plans to create additional episodes of “PLDL Explores” with help from student interns during the fall semester of every year.
