Libby and the Great Lake Digital Library Collection

Download ebooks, audiobooks and digital magazines to your computer or mobile device. Stream popular movies, documentaries and TV shows. Over 100,000 titles to choose from!

Getting Started

  • Go to gldl.overdrive.com or download the Libby app
  • Find or search for Portage Lake District Library
  • Enter your library card number and PIN
  • Borrow titles and start reading

Adding Partner Libraries

  • Once in the Libby app, select the three lines at the bottom of the screen
  • Select “Add Library”
  • Search the name of a partner library and select it
  • Select “Sign In With My Card”
  • Select our library from the list of options
  • Sign in with your library card number and PIN
  • Repeat the steps until you’ve added all partner libraries

MeL

The Michigan eLibrary (MeL) is a statewide service of the Library of Michigan, an agency of the Michigan Department of Education that offers a wide range of resources and services.

Accessing MeL’s eResources

  • Go to mel.org
  • Select eResources located in the white banner near the top
  • Scroll down to where it says “Go to eResource by Letter”
  • Select ALL or the first letter of the resource you are looking for
  • Select the resource in the list of options

  • Auto Repair Source: Repair information and schedules, diagrams, parts and labor estimates, service alerts, and recalls. Covers thousands of domestic and imported vehicles.
  • eBook (Full Ebsco Collection): 200,000 plus titles available digitally.
  • Home Improvement Source: Includes maintenance, remodeling, electrical work, plumbing, wood projects, outdoor improvements, decorating, home & garden, etc. Includes more than 130 reference books.
  • Learning Express Library: Includes a resume builder you can save, edit, and print. Over 700 courses, practice tests, tutorials, eBooks, and flashcards. Practice tests include ACT, SAT, PSAT and TOEFL, as well as trade certification, civil service, math and reading tests, and U.S. citizenship. 
  • MyHeritage: Family history/genealogy resource including more than 6 billion historical ​records from the United States, Europe, Latin America, and other regions.

BARD Access

If you are interested in audio books because you are unable to read like you used to due to a visual, physical, or reading disability, you are eligible for a free service through the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled to download audiobooks using the BARD (Braille and Audio Reading Download) mobile app. Call Great Lakes Talking Books at 906-228-7697, ext. 0 to apply over the phone. Eligibility includes folks who require Large Print.
