The exterior library door will be locked during school hours (10am-3:30pm weekdays when school is in session) but we now have our own door buzzer! Please simply press the intercom button to the RIGHT of the doors, smile for the camera, and we will say Hi! and buzz you in. Whenever school is not in session, the door will be unlocked as usual.

Our Story
As of November 1, 2018, the Hancock School Public Library is operated by the Portage Lake District Library (PLDL). PLDL will staff the Hancock library and provide books and other materials, access to library databases, interlibrary loans that enable patrons to borrow books from other libraries, and programming.
The agreement does not give Hancock residents access to the main library in Houghton. They will still have to purchase out-of-district memberships to make full use of the PLDL in Houghton.
You can read more details about the partnership between PLDL and the Hancock School Public Library in our press release.
